Filterion started with a simple question: what actually comes out of the tap, and what can a home cartridge change about it? We develop filter cartridges built on an anion exchange fibre, and we publish what they do and do not reduce.
PFAS are a large group of synthetic chemicals used since the 1940s in products from firefighting foam to textiles. They are called forever chemicals because the carbon to fluorine bond does not break down naturally.
The EU Drinking Water Directive sets a limit for the sum of 20 PFAS substances, and Sweden adds a stricter limit of 4 ng/l for four of them (LIVSFS 2022:12). Those limits apply to drinking water producers. Your municipality publishes its own most recent analysis on its website.
Filterion develops filter cartridges for the home. Our mission is to make that step simple, and to publish what our cartridges do and do not reduce.
Every claim we publish has to trace back to a measurement or a regulation.
We publish full per-substance measurements, including the substances where reduction is lower.
The filter medium is specified to a published manufacturer datasheet.
We explain how the filter medium works and which limits apply to drinking water in Sweden.

Designed in Stockholm
Sweden's limit for PFAS4 in drinking water is 4 ng/l (LIVSFS 2022:12), among the strictest in Europe. That limit applies to drinking water producers, not to home filters. Our team works in Stockholm, where the rule is part of the everyday context.
Our cartridges are developed in Stockholm. The filter medium is an anion exchange fibre in chloride form, with a polyacrylonitrile matrix.
We design for products that fit unobtrusively into a kitchen and are built to last.
